Environmental Impact

Dropbear Outdoors Beach and Poncho Towels are one of the first recycled towels made from RPET microfiber, a soft and absorbent yarn using recycled plastic bottles.

We're turning those pesky single-use plastics into awesome beach towels that dry in a flash! Our ponchos and towels aren't just super handy (think quick-drying, compact, and oh-so-absorbent) but they're also kind to our planet. Yep, they're crafted from 100% recycled fabric. So, next time you're at the beach, you can feel good knowing you're wrapped up in sustainability. 🌍❤️

Reducing the drain on the worlds resources, Dropbear towels are made with a recycled yarn called RPET – which is made from waste water bottles and fabric off cuts. Each Dropbear towel keeps approximately 20 waste water bottles out of landfills and our oceans.

Aside from reducing landfill, the production of recycled RPET, has significant environmental advantages. It takes 20,000 litres of water to produce just 1kg of organic cotton. Recycled RPET has a 50% lower carbon footprint than organic cotton. It has also been found that RPET significantly sheds less micro particles than non recycled yarn, when washed (MISTRA).

In addition, our RPET towels are compressed at very high temperature to trap and bond their micro particles together, to help protect our oceans.

We recommend washing your towel on low heat in a mesh bag to prevent any damage. To dry it just hang it out.

Dropbear Outdoors RPET towels are printed with safe and sustainable water based inks.

Your done with your towel and don´t have any use for it anymore? Simply send it back to us and we recycle it for you. We collect all old towels and send them to a local business that does upcycle the material.
